Why I Love Cataclysm

cataclysm
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is going to be the best thing to happen to Azeroth since the removal of Dishonorable Kills. While this site will never be a news and review setup, I can’t help but be excited by the recent expansion announcement and what it will do to the state of world pvp by reenergizing the intensity of the faction war to levels not seen in quite some time. These views are purely my own as most storylines will not be revealed for quite some time, but these opinions are being based upon rumor and speculation resulting from Blizzcon 2009’s announcement.

One of the biggest reasons for this is going to start at the top. One rumor circulating is that Horde Warchief Thrall is going to step down in favor of Garrosh Hellscream, which to me couldn’t happen soon enough. I’ve been a loyal follower of Thrall, however his methods of working in unison with the Alliance to tackle the greater good of the Azeroth kingdoms is beginning to wear thin on me. While this type of leadership is precisely what you need, I personally am tired of all the grabassing going on Northrend as both forces descend upon Arthas in Icecrown. We need to get back to the hatred for each other, and Garrosh is precisely the guy to do it. Besides, he already laid a beatdown on Thrall prior to Wrath of the Lich King:

King Variann Wrynn of the Alliance has basically declared war on The Horde following the scripted event in Dragonblight (spoilers if you care),

and while Thrall is level-headed following the ordeal and uses sound judgement as opposed to Wrynn’s madness, Garrosh is licking his lips at the opportunity to kill them all. My kind of guy. Here’s a quick example of Garrosh and Wrynn’s feelings for each other in the 3.2 Secrets of Ulduar cinematic:

“A true warchief would never partner with cowards.” -Garrosh

As you can tell, this dual-wielding axed maniac is precisely the right type of guy to invigorate the war and push towards complete destruction of the Alliance. If Thrall moves to the front lines or whatever it was he was rumored to be doing (his reasoning for stepping down), then he can push towards eliminating whatever threat Deathwing poses along with all the top guilds as they race to see who can be the first to down a scripted collection of pixels with gear just a teeny-bit better than what they already had.

While all that is going on, think about the makeup of the land. New races (goblins and worgen) will be leveling up as well as new race/class combos (Tauren paladins will be pimp) will also be providing cannon fodder in their respective old-world zones. Levels 58-68 will be in Outlands and 68-78 will be in Northrend. That leaves everyone else to be back in the old world, destroying everything they see.

Ahh, a world of grief, noob-slaughtering and calls to help random areas. How long has it been since the last time you were sitting in Orgrimmar and the /Local Defense channel prompted you to go save Crossroads? Right now no one cares until it has spammed itself many times, but in the old days you saw every level 60 run right to the flight master and go clear the town…

Now you have that all-over Azeroth.

  1. It makes me weep inside.. Really.. Tears of joy.

  2. I’m right there with ya brother.

  3. Think we can talk Loz into loggin in sometime before midnight and world pvp? I’m sure Akahn will be up for it.

    • School starts tomorrow!!! Meaning that everyone will be going to bed early from now on so I’ll begin logging on much earlier.

      • I don’t know what time you got on last night or if it was any different, I think I played half-asleep.

We should cruise around Outlands and pay back the groups that keep ganking Lozar, although a trip down memory lane in the Eastern Kingdoms would be pretty pimp as well.

  4. I was on around 10:40 last night. I had to finish watching Die Hard. I think around 10 is the normal time I’d get on.
As for ganked, yea I was turning in a quest at the end of the night and a ??? lvl DK decided to swoop down and two shot me. Of course that was 30 minutes after I was fighting a lvl 63 Mage and had him with a sliver of health left before 3 other Alliance bitches jumped me. I can’t do much against 2 lvl 64 and a lvl 63 mage.
Then later trying to turn in the same quest another group of lvl 64’s were just flying around the same area waiting for someone to jump so I still need to turn in that quest.

  5. either way.. outlands or old world.. im in like flynn.
